Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics Policy

EBCAS is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical practice in scholarly publishing. The journal follows internationally recognised principles of publication ethics to ensure integrity, transparency and accountability throughout the editorial and publication process.

Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are original works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration elsewhere. All data interpretations and conclusions must be presented honestly without fabrication, falsification or selective reporting. Authors are required to acknowledge all sources appropriately and to obtain permission for any third-party material used.

The authors are responsible for ensuring that all information disclosed in the case study is accurate, lawfully obtained, and appropriately presented. Any consequences arising from the disclosure of such information remain the responsibility of the authors. Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest – financial, institutional or personal – that could influence the research or interpretation of the case. Funding sources, if any, must also be clearly stated.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to conduct evaluations objectively, fairly and confidentially. Manuscripts under review must not be shared, discussed or used for personal advantage. Reviewers should provide constructive and evidence-based feedback and must inform the editor of any ethical concerns, suspected plagiarism, data irregularities or conflicts of interest. Reviewers who identify a conflict of interest must decline the review.

Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based solely on academic merit, relevance and quality without discrimination or bias. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by commercial interests, institutional affiliations or personal relationships. Editors must maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities and must manage conflicts of interest transparently.

When ethical concerns arise, editors will investigate promptly and fairly, following established publication ethics procedures. This may include consultation with reviewers, authors or relevant institutions.

Research Ethics and Consent

Case studies involving organisations, individuals or sensitive data must be conducted in accordance with ethical research principles. Authors are responsible for ensuring informed consent, confidentiality and anonymity where required.

Misconduct and Corrective Actions

The journal takes allegations of misconduct seriously. Misconduct includes plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and unethical authorship practices. If misconduct is identified before publication, the manuscript will be rejected. If identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, retraction or expression of concern and may notify the authors' affiliated institution when appropriate.

Commitment to Ethical Publishing

By submitting to EBCAS, authors, reviewers and editors agree to adhere to this publication ethics policy. The journal aims to foster trust, credibility and scholarly responsibility and to support ethical knowledge dissemination in economics and business case study research.
