Peer Review Process
Reviewing Process Policy
EBCAS applies a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure the academic quality, relevance and integrity of all published case studies. Every submission is evaluated fairly objectively and confidentially in line with accepted scholarly publishing standards.
Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editor-in-chief or an assigned editor. This stage assesses the submission’s suitability with the journal focus and scope, originality, ethical compliance, clarity of presentation and adherence to submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements may be returned to the authors without external review.
Peer Review Method
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed using a double-blind peer review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to ensure impartial evaluation. Each manuscript is normally assessed by two independent reviewers with relevant subject matter expertise.
Review Criteria
Reviewers are requested to evaluate submissions based on several key criteria. These include the relevance and significance of the case study, the clarity of context and problem definition, the quality and credibility of data and evidence, the contribution to economics and business education or practice and the overall clarity and structure of the manuscript.
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers' reports, the editor will make one of the following decisions: accept without revision, accept subject to minor revisions, revise and resubmit or reject. Where revisions are required, authors are expected to address reviewers' comments systematically and to resubmit within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further assessment when necessary.
Ethics and Confidentiality
All manuscripts and review reports are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, discuss or use any part of the manuscript for personal or professional advantage. Any potential conflicts of interest must be declared to the editor, and reviewers with conflicts will be excluded from the review process.
Timeliness and Quality Assurance
The journal aims to conduct the review process in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of evaluation. Editors monitor reviewer performance and decision consistency to ensure fairness, academic rigour and constructive feedback.
Through this reviewing process, the International Journal of Economics and Business Case Studies seeks to uphold scholarly quality, strengthen the credibility of published case studies and support meaningful engagement between academic research, teaching and practice.
